Why this works
- Tuition starts at €2,300–2,600/year, among the lowest for English-taught EU degrees in the Baltics.
- Latvia is an EU/Schengen member — graduates gain access to EU post-study work rights without extra permits.
- IELTS minimum of 6.0 is accessible for most CIS applicants without intensive test preparation.
- Now part of Riga Technical University (RTU), one of Latvia's leading technical universities — the diploma carries RTU's national brand.
- Both bachelor and master programmes are available in English across IT, humanities, and education fields.
- Liepāja is a compact coastal city with estimated living costs of €400–600/month, making total study costs very affordable.
What to check
- The institution merged into RTU in March 2024; the old LiepU brand is gone — applicants must clarify the new name when explaining their diploma.
- English programme portfolio is narrow: only 3 bachelor and 2 master programmes, limiting field choice significantly.
- Liepāja is a small regional city far from Riga — fewer internship, networking, and part-time job opportunities than in the capital.
- Application deadlines for autumn 2026/2027 and spring intake availability are not yet confirmed — plan early and monitor the RTU Liepāja admissions portal.
- Merit-based scholarships are mentioned but amounts and eligibility criteria are unconfirmed — do not count on financial aid when budgeting.
Accommodation
€200-350/mo private — Liepāja (3rd city of Latvia). Lower cost of living than Riga. Research pending — status: imported-pending-review.
Scholarships
No institution-specific scholarship; not confirmed as a participating institution for Latvian State Scholarships (VIAA), and the 2026/27 VIAA cycle is closed (NotebookLM, 2026-06). Ukraine has dedicated VIAA support; national schemes apply at citizenship level via route cards.
Figures are indicative and change by academic year. Always confirm tuition, deadlines and visa requirements on the official institution and government sources before applying.
