## Summary

The Erhard Busek Grant paid €1,300 per month for the full 24 months of a two-year master's programme in Austria plus a travel allowance of up to €1,200, and the admitting university exempted holders from tuition fees. It targeted graduates of non-European developing countries, especially in STEM and English-taught master's programmes.
The OeAD page states that the information refers to the 2025/26 round and that no further call is currently planned. Treat this as a scheme to check with your university, not one to build a budget on.

## Eligibility

- A bachelor's degree obtained at a higher education institution in one of the listed countries. From our origin markets, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan were on the 2025/26 list; Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Belarus and Azerbaijan were not.
- Unrestricted admission to a two-year master's programme in Austria had to be in hand — a conditional admission letter did not qualify.
- Age limit 35. The country list is set per round and has changed before, so read the current one rather than this one.

## How to apply

- Two phases, both institution-driven: universities first applied to the OeAD for scholarship places, then selected and nominated their best admitted candidates; only afterwards did the student file with the OeAD. Direct applications were never possible.
- In practice that means securing unrestricted admission first and asking the university's international office whether it holds Busek places at all.
- Before any of that, check oead.at — no new call has been announced since the 2025/26 round.
