- Estonia's largest public university of applied sciences (~3,000 students, 6 institutes), so the engineering degree carries state accreditation and EU recognition.
- Applied, industry-facing programmes (mechanical engineering, robotics, electrical engineering, environmental technology, logistics, applied architecture) with employer-funded scholarships for enrolled students.
- A foreign secondary school certificate is accepted; ranking is by secondary GPA plus bonus points, with no separate paid entrance exam.
- Mõdriku campus dormitory costs €60/month — among the cheapest student housing in the EU.

- All degree programmes are taught in Estonian. English is used only for incoming exchange students — there is no English-taught degree route here.
- Admission requires a group interview on every programme, held in Estonian; it is a pass/fail prerequisite, not a scored component.
- A CIS applicant without Estonian at roughly B2 cannot enter at all — realistically this means a preparatory language year before applying.
- No entry-level scholarships for international applicants; all listed awards require enrolment and, in most cases, a named Estonian-taught engineering programme from year 2.
- Tallinn campus has no dormitory of its own — housing is outsourced to TalTech's student village, and the Kohtla-Järve site has no housing arrangement at all.
- The university may bill tuition retroactively if the student falls more than 6 ECTS behind the cumulative plan, moves to part-time, or withdraws after day 70 of the semester.
