Who it fits

  • You want to work with strategy, innovation and product or service development — not only product styling.
  • Your prior degree gives you an academic foundation in industrial or closely related design.
  • You can demonstrate how you research users and contexts, develop concepts and connect human, technological and business considerations.

Academic eligibility

  • A university bachelor’s degree in, or closely related to, design that is comparable to a Dutch research-university degree.
  • Academic knowledge of product development, relevant research skills, advanced academic writing and teamwork.
  • Ability to combine human, technological and business aspects of design, with an interest in strategic and business dimensions.
  • TU Delft assesses every application individually; work experience or non-degree courses can support, but do not replace, the required academic background.

Portfolio

  • Submit 3–8 design projects in one PDF, no more than 30 pages and 20 MB; A4 maximum, landscape preferred.
  • At least one project must show the complete product-design process: the starting point, research and sketches through to the final concept.
  • Show quality rather than quantity, and evidence of visualisation, project management and research skills.
  • For each project state the title, your name, date and place, problem and objectives, your role, whether it was individual or team work, study year and supervisor.

Application procedure

  • You may submit only one TU Delft MSc application per academic year, so choose the programme before applying.
  • Apply yourself: first register in Studielink, then complete the application in TU Delft’s Osiaan portal.
  • All required documents must be received by the deadline. Incomplete applications and documents sent by email or post are not processed.
  • TU Delft charges a non-refundable €100 application fee.

Deadlines

Non-EU

15 January

EU

1 April

Non-EU applicants enter a limited-capacity selection and should receive a decision by mid-March. EU applicants are reviewed on a rolling basis.

English requirement

IELTS Academic 7.0 · at least 6.5 in every component

IELTS Academic: 7.0 overall and at least 6.5 in every component. TU Delft also accepts specified TOEFL iBT and Cambridge alternatives; check the current official rules before booking a test.

Planning implication

For a non-EU applicant, treat 15 January as the hard planning deadline: the portfolio, English result and all documents must be ready before submission.

Important limits

  • • This page summarises published requirements; it cannot predict an admission decision.
  • • A portfolio does not compensate automatically for a bachelor’s degree that TU Delft considers academically unrelated.
  • • Tuition and living costs are not stated here until an intake-specific official figure has been verified.
