What works on this route
- EU Council Decision 2025/1460: Lithuania may reject TP if applicant already holds active TP in another EU state. Resolve existing status first.
- SKVC credential recognition required (€60–100, 2–4 weeks) — start 2–3 months before application deadline.
- Lithuanian State Scholarships (Government of Lithuania, via the Education Exchanges Support Foundation): Ukraine is eligible for the 2026 Master's call with a dedicated 20-grant quota — Master's-degree only, ~592 EUR/mo + tuition. Check stipendijos.lt / studyin.lt.
- LSMU Medicine: first-round deadline is April–May — do not miss it.

After visa: settling in
- 1Collect your temporary residence permit (TRP) card from the Migration Department and declare your place of residence within the set window after arrival.
- 2University dorms (Vilnius University, KTU, VMU) are affordable; Vilnius / Kaunas private rental is moderate — secure it before term starts.
- 3Open a bank account — Lithuania is fintech-friendly, so a local IBAN is quick to set up once you're registered.
- 4Mandatory health insurance is a condition of the permit — keep it continuous.
