What works on this route

  • DAAD actively funds Uzbek students — Central Asia scholarship programs. Check daad.de annually.
  • Goethe-Institut Tashkent: B1/B2/C1 exams and language courses available in-country.
  • Blocked account (Sperrkonto): open Fintiba/Expatrio remotely — fund via Turkey or UAE bank account as transit.
  • Embassy Tashkent is busy — book visa appointment 4–5 months in advance.
  • APS certificate NOT required for Uzbekistan citizenship.

Why applications get rejected

  • Blocked account (Sperrkonto) not opened or funded (SWIFT transit failed)
  • No language proof
  • Missed visa appointment (embassy backlog Tashkent)

After visa: settling in

  1. 1Register your address (Anmeldung) at the Bürgeramt within ~2 weeks of moving in — almost everything else (bank, residence permit, contracts) needs the registration certificate.
  2. 2Convert the entry visa into a residence permit (Aufenthaltstitel) at the Ausländerbehörde before the visa expires — book the appointment the week you arrive; slots are scarce.
  3. 3Unlock your blocked account (Sperrkonto): once you have a German address and a current account, the agreed monthly amount becomes withdrawable.
  4. 4Enrol in statutory student health insurance (gesetzliche Krankenversicherung) — the university won't complete matriculation without proof of cover.
  5. 5Apply for a dorm through the local Studierendenwerk the moment you're admitted — student housing is scarce and waitlisted; line up a temporary room as a fallback.

Financing your studies

Blocked account (Sperrkonto)

Germany requires a blocked account as proof of funds — €11,208 is deposited upfront and released in monthly instalments after you arrive.

Providers

fintiba89

Online setup, accepted by all German consulates. Recommended for most CIS applicants.

coracle79

Slightly faster approval. Good alternative to Fintiba.

Funding from CIS — what to know

SWIFT infrastructure for Uzbekistan is limited. Kapital Bank / Ipoteka Bank have some correspondent relations, but not with all German banks. Use Fintiba/Expatrio with Turkey/UAE transit.

Allow 2–3 weeks for account approval — book your visa appointment only after the Sperrkonto is confirmed.
