What works on this route
- The order is inverted: the OCMA (PMLP) decides on the residence permit first, and only then can the D visa be applied for. The inviting university must confirm the invitation in the PMLP system before anything is filed.
- The state fee is a speed ladder — €70 for 30 days, €200 for 10 working days, €400 for 5 working days.
- VFS Global stopped accepting applications for the Tbilisi embassies in 2017. Filing is at the consular section itself by appointment, electronically with a secure signature, by post, or through a representative authorised by the university.
- Means for the residence permit are €780/month from 1 April 2026 — the minimum monthly wage under Cabinet Regulation No. 656, applied through Cabinet Regulation No. 225 (PMLP).
- The D visa processing term and the consular fee for Georgian citizens are not published — figures from the embassy's other consular districts belong to another channel and another year and do not apply here.

After visa: settling in
