- EU Council Decision 2025/1460: Latvia may reject TP if applicant already holds active TP in another EU state. Resolve existing status first.
- AIC credential recognition required (€50–100, 2–4 weeks) — start 2–3 months before deadline.
- RSU Medicine: first-round deadline April–May — late applications are rejected.
- Verify RTU special conditions for Ukrainian students (2026/27 academic year) — provisions may apply.

After visa: settling in
- 1Collect your residence-permit card from OCMA (PMLP) after arrival and keep your declared address current.
- 2University dorms (RTU, University of Latvia) are cheap; Riga private rental is moderate — arrange it before you land rather than from a hostel.
- 3Open a bank account (Swedbank, SEB) with the residence card and address registration.
- 4Health insurance is mandatory for the residence permit — keep cover unbroken across renewals.

Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania do not require a blocked account. Show proof of funds — a bank statement or sponsor declaration — at the visa or residence permit appointment.
